Web Site Assessment Class for Voc Ed Students

This class focuses on how to perform a web site assessment for a business partner. The class can be implemented as a semester-long class or (because it is divided into Units) sections can be easily integrated into other classes. All classroom reading and tools for assessment are free and web-based. The curriculum is designed for a teacher who may be just one step ahead of the students as it encourages students to research advanced Internet topics and report to the class. The class targets students who are interested in the web but are not necessarily "techies".

It begins with a grounding in web site standards and understanding the Internet as a marketing tool for research, communication with customers, and promotion to target market through a web site and other Internet means (such as email). There is an experiential aspect - students partner with a local business to help them assess and improve their web site.
